New Mechanics and Technicians Sign-on Bonus

$5,000 in total

  • $1,000 after completion of 3 months

  • $2,000 after completion of 6 months

  • $2,000 after completion of 12 months

Terms and Conditions

  • Applicable to mechanics and technicians (all trades) who are successfully hired.

  • Sign on bonus is subject to tax and superannuation in accordance with the relevant legislation.

  • Sign on bonus is not applicable for returning staff who have left Transit Systems within the preceding 6-month period.

  • Sign on bonus payments will be made in the first applicable pay adjustment after completion of the period.

  • If employment ends for any reason, or at the employee’s request transfers to a depot other than Leichhardt prior to the 3, 6 or 12-month period, no payment is due (i.e. there is no pro-rata/partial amount for less than 3, 6 or 12 months).

  • Amounts stated are paid to full time employees. Part time employees receive a pro-rata based on their hours of work.

  • If an employee changes status between full time and part time in a 3-month period, a pro-rata calculation will be done based on hours worked in that period.

  • Sign on bonus payments are not applicable to casual employees.

  • Employees eligible for the sign-on bonus will also be eligible for the retention bonus payment of an additional $10 per shift worked, up to a maximum of $50 per week once employed (as per applicable Terms and Conditions).

  • Those on extended leave will be considered on a case-by-case basis with final approval to be determined by the Managing Director.

  • These Terms and Conditions may be varied as determined by the Managing Director.

  • This initiative is applicable from 1 October 2023 and may be ended at any time at the discretion of the Managing Director.
